OC is Blowing Up!

DryBar

Drybar is finally arriving in Orange County today! The popular LA-based concept, reported to be the first and original blow dry only bar, opens at Fashion Island in Newport Beach. They’re motto says it all: “No cuts, no color. Just blowouts only $35.”

Co-founded by hair authority Alli Webb and her brother Michael, Drybar is a chic shop with a fun, bar theme (each blowout style is named after a cocktail). While you’re at Drybar enjoy healthy snacks and drinks, re-charge your iPhone, and watch a movie all while having your hair expertly blown out

Drybar is a celebrity favorite stop, attracting stars including Cindy Crawford, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Zooey Deschanel, and Jessica Lowndes. Rose McGowan was such a fan of Drybar that she became an investor.

Open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Appointments for all locations can be booked online at www.thedrybar.com or by calling 310.442.6084. Level 2, Atrium Court in Fashion Island in Newport Beach.

 

Time for Surf Camp!

Surf CampLocal surf camp owner Erik Nelsen and his staff of CPR-trained surfers in Newport Beach are gearing up to teach kids how to surf and become ocean safe. In anticipation of summer, the Quiksilver Surf Camp is offering a special Spring Recess camp from April 11-15 for boys and girls of all ability.

The staff will teach your child not only the basics of wave riding, but also a balance of ocean safety, environmental activities and  beach games. Your child will graduate from the program as a legitimate surf grom. The program is designed to instill a sense of passion for the sport of surfing as well as a sense of responsibility for the ocean. The camp boasts state of the art INT soft top surfboards and Quiksilver wetsuits of all sizes to keep your kids warm. With a four-to-one child to instructor ratio in the water, most campers will be successfully riding waves their first day at camp.

The spring recess camp is ideal for children ages 5 to 14. Cost is $400. You can sign up and learn more here.
